Is Your Porn Habit Hurting Your Sex Life?

Is Your Porn Habit Hurting Your Sex Life?

Ah, yes, porn. Let us count the ways that it has been celebrated over the years. While the modern concept of porn didn’t come about until the Victorian Era (1860s), porn has been around for millennia. Originally, it was referred to as Erotic Depictions and was considered more art than anything else. But oh, how the modernization of porn has changed the way we view porn, think about porn, and use porn. So, the question is: Can your porn habit be hurting your sex life?

Yes, yes it can. In more ways than one.

Ladies & Gents: you may or may not be thinking that this is more of an issue relegated to men. Oh contraire mon frere, it can equally be an issue for the ladies as well.

So how CAN your porn habit hurt your sex life – regardless of your gender or sex? Let’s list them out and take a deeper look:

1. Performance

In both men and women, depending on the age of onset of porn usage, the amount of porn being used, the activity in which we use porn, the type of porn we watch, and feelings we have attached to porn can affect sexual performance in both men AND women. In men it can affect getting and maintaining an erection as well as the ability to ejaculate. In women it can affect the ability to orgasm, feel pleasure, and be “present in the moment.”

2. Pleasure

In both men and women porn can affect how pleasurably we find real life sex with our partner. It affects how present we are with them and “in the moment” we are with them.

3. Eroticism of your partner

Porn can affect how sexual, sensual, sexy, and erotic we find our partner to be. Porn can affect the way we see our partner sexually and actually it can greatly reduce our ability see them sexually or erotically.

4. Rejection within the relationship

Each time we our jollies via porn is actually a lost opportunity to be with our loved one. You say… “They are at work!” Well you will have used your sexy mojo and will not be as randy when they get home and most likely will not pursue them for sex. Get it? For many people they feel that they are being replaced, rejected, that porn is giving you something that they can’t, you prefer porn to them, jealousy, and for some view it as a form of infidelity.

So your porn habit can be affecting one of these, all of these, or a combination thereof. Take a good look at your usage, have a conversation if needed with yourself or your loved one. And if you need help or an expert opinion – schedule a free 15-minute consult. There’s no time like the present to reinvigorate your sex life and your approach to porn.

As always,

Gabriela
