Can Too Much Masturbation Cause ED
Can too much masturbation cause erectile dysfunction?
The quick and short answer is—no.
The long answer is that there’s no evidence that connects frequency of masturbation to erectile dysfunction as a condition. You may be thinking about the “cooldown” period, otherwise known as the male refractory period. But this is different from ED.
This myth has been around for a little bit, but that’s all it is—a myth.
So what’s causing my ED?
Erectile dysfunction can be caused by a number of things, my lovelies. Some common things include:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Lack of sleep
- Mental/emotional problems (i.e., depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, etc.)
- Injuries
- Performance anxiety
For younger men, ED tends to be more caused by emotional or psychological factors. For men over 40, ED is fairly common. It’s believed at least 40% of men over 40 years old have experienced ED in some form or fashion.
Why do folks think frequent masturbation causes ED?
This myth cropped up when researchers found that increases in internet porn usage rose with cases of ED in men under 40. However, just ‘cause they rose together doesn’t mean one caused the other. As of now, it just doesn’t look like there’s enough information to really know.
That being said – a frequent use of porn can have an effect on ED. More on that in another article though.
So I hope y’all learned a lil’ something new that you didn’t know before.
Now you can enjoy your body without all the worry.
With responsibility of course.
